Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lead Grading Foreman to oversee and manage grading and site preparation projects from start to finish. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with grading operations, site supervision, and crew leadership. A clean driver’s license and accident-free record for the past 2 years are required. Candidates must have strong knowledge of reading grades, operating heavy equipment, and managing crews to ensure precision and efficiency. This role requires someone who is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and committed to delivering top-quality work on schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily grading operations, ensuring productivity, accuracy, and safety standards are met.
- Supervise and direct grading crews and equipment operators.
- Read and interpret blueprints, grading plans, and site specifications.
- Set up and maintain grade stakes, elevations, and drainage systems according to plans.
- Operate and maintain equipment such as graders, dozers, skid steers, and excavators.
- Monitor and verify that grading and compaction meet required tolerances.
- Coordinate material deliveries, schedules, and equipment needs with project managers and suppliers.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications and environmental regulations.
- Enforce safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized, and compliant job site.
- Train and mentor crew members to improve technical skills and promote teamwork.
Qualifications:
- 4 years of grading or earthwork experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership or foreman role.
- Strong knowledge of grading techniques, elevations, compaction standards, and soil types.
- Proven ability to operate and oversee use of heavy machinery such as graders, bulldozers, skid steers, and excavators.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, grading plans, and construction documents.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Physically able to lift 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Clean driver’s license and accident-free record for the last 3 years.
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CDL license is a plus.
- Experience with GPS or laser-guided grading systems.
- Knowledge of erosion control, stormwater management, and site utilities.
