Job Summary: This position provides direct patient care relative to physical diagnosis and therapeutic management in an ambulatory surgery center. Works closely with surgeons, anesthetists, nursing and clinical staff to develop and coordinate a plan of care to meet the needs of the patient. Weekdays and some off-hour, weekend and/or on-call may be required of this position.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations, including pre-operative assessments and follow-up care.
- Develop and implement care plans, manage patient expectations, and provide recommendations for treatment.
- Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests in coordination with surgeons and anesthesia.
- Write orders for labs, diagnostic tests, pre-operative clearances, and prescription medications in accordance with clinical guidelines and DEA regulations.
- Prescribe medication, perform clinical procedures, and respond to changes in patient conditions, including emergencies.
- Serve as a First Assist in the Operating Room, supporting the surgeon during procedures while maintaining sterile technique.
- Provide post-surgical care including wound assessments, dressing changes, drain/staple/suture removal, and management of complications.
- Educate patients and caregivers on pre- and post-operative care, recovery expectations, and health maintenance.
- Conduct follow-up phone calls to assess recovery, address concerns, and provide clinical guidance.
- Answer clinical questions and triage patient issues over the phone or in person, escalating to the surgeon when necessary.
- Work in a collaborative relationship with surgeons and clinical staff to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Take a leadership role in directing nurses, MAs, and other staff in all aspects of clinic operations.
- Act as a clinical resource, coach, and mentor to team members to foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in staff meetings to review progress, resolve problems, and identify process improvements.
- Oversee patient management and uphold clinical standards to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care.
- Consult with surgeons on complex diagnoses and contribute to treatment planning and care adjustments.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation of all patient interactions in compliance with legal, ethical, and HIPAA standards.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by following clinical procedures and infection control protocols.
- Address patient concerns and grievances professionally, focusing on resolution and maintaining standards of care.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all privacy regulations.
- Respond promptly and calmly to emergency situations, providing immediate support and utilizing emergency protocols and equipment as necessary.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current with medical best practices, plastic surgery advancements, and evolving care standards.
- Maintain all required credentials, licenses, and authorizations.
Required Qualifications:
- License: Certified Physician Assistant
- 3-5 years related work experience required
- American Heart Association - BLS & ACLS Certifications
- Valid prescriptive authority from the Federal DEA
- Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three to five years’ experience in a clinical environment, preferably in an ambulatory surgical center with an emphasis in cosmetic plastic surgery.

Salary : $120,000 - $160,000
