Athena Restaurant Chicago is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and team-oriented Dishwasher to join our kitchen team. The Dishwasher plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment that allows our culinary and service teams to operate efficiently and deliver an exceptional guest experience.

This is an hourly position that requires flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as business demands.

Key Responsibilities

• Wash and sanitize all dishes, glassware, flatware, cooking utensils, and kitchen equipment.
• Operate commercial dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently.
• Scrub and clean pots, pans, and kitchen tools as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dishwashing area throughout the shift.
• Remove garbage and recycling from kitchen and service areas.
• Sweep and mop floors to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries when needed.
• Stock clean dishes, glassware, and kitchen equipment in designated areas.
• Support kitchen staff with cleaning and organizational tasks.
• Follow all sanitation, health, and safety standards.
• Notify management of equipment issues or maintenance concerns.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the shift following clean-as-you-go procedures.
• Assist with deep cleaning projects and other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Previous restaurant or dishwashing experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
• Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe workplace.
• Ability to work cooperatively with kitchen and front-of-house team members.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Food Handler Certification preferred or ability to obtain certification as required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to frequently bend, lift, push, and pull throughout the shift.
• Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in a warm, wet, and fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Must maintain a professional appearance and clean uniform at all times.
