Role Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Transportation Water Resource Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career professional to gain hands-on experience across a broad range of engineering tasks. As a Water Resources Engineer, you will primarily support drainage and water resources disciplines, including closed and open system drainage designs, FEMA flood studies, post-construction stormwater, erosion control, and bridge and culvert hydraulics. However, interested candidates can also expect some cross training in roadway and general transportation design.
This role is ideal for someone looking to become a well-rounded water resources design engineer while working with a passionate and talented team.
Requirements
· 3 years of relevant experience
· 4-year Civil Engineering (or related) degree
· Drainage Design/Modeling/Erosion Control/Hydraulics experience, with willingness to expand skills into related disciplines
· Familiarity with Bentley OpenRoads Designer
· Ability to utilize HEC-RAS 1D/2D, HY-8, and Hydraulic Toolbox
· Ability to produce construction plan drawings, author technical reports, and complete design calculations, with minimal oversight
· Ability to develop engineer's quantity takeoffs and construction cost estimates, with minimal oversight
· Knowledge of AASHTO design policies, including GDOT Drainage Design Policy Manual, GDOT Stormwater Design Guide, and GDOT Guidance for Hydrologic and Hydraulic Studies
· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
· Excellent communication and organizational skills
· Engineer in Training (EIT) license (required)
· Experience designing GDOT projects and familiarity with the GDOT PDP (desired)
