Role Description The Director of Sales and Business Development is a full-time, on-site role based in Excelsior Springs, MO. This role leads the sales and business development function, including setting strategy, managing the sales pipeline, and driving revenue growth across key markets and service lines. Day-to-day responsibilities include identifying new business opportunities, cultivating relationships with customers and carriers, overseeing proposal development and contract negotiations, and collaborating with operations to ensure service excellence. The director will manage and mentor a sales team, establish performance metrics, and implement sales processes and tools to increase efficiency. This role also involves forecasting, reporting, and partnering with senior leadership to align growth initiatives with overall business objectives.
Qualifications
- Strong Sales and Sales Operations skills, including pipeline management, forecasting, and performance tracking.
- Proven Business Development experience in logistics, transportation, or related industries, with a track record of generating new revenue.
- Excellent Customer Service capabilities, with a focus on building long-term, trust-based relationships with clients and carriers.
- Demonstrated Team Management skills, including hiring, coaching, and developing sales professionals.
- Solid understanding of 3PL services, freight modes (LTL, Reefer, Dry Van, Flatbed, Heavy Haul), and carrier negotiation.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work on-site in Excelsior Springs, MO and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Logistics, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Experience in a leadership role within sales or business development, preferably in transportation or supply chain.
