Job Description
Purpose: Creating a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. To accomplish these tasks, works closely with the staff and administration of the District.
Responsible to: Building Principal(s)
Payment Rate: Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must occasionally work in noisy and crowded environments, with numerous interruptions.
- Work independently without supervision
- Strong verbal and written skills.
- Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the District Office (after an employment offer is made)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
General Functions:
- Implement a student's IEP.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all aspects of student and school related issues.
- Communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with members of the school district and community.
- React to change and frequent interruptions in a productive and positive manner, and handle other tasks as assigned.
- Work to implement the vision and mission of the District.
- Requires prolonged sitting or standing and use of office equipment.
- Manage job responsibilities and meet the established district outcomes.
- Use district-identified computer hardware and software, and other district-provided technology as needed.
- Physically adapt to the compressed time schedule of a school day and year
- Regular attendance is required of all employees subject to allowed leave in accordance with district policy or negotiated agreement, as appropriate. Excessive absences or tardiness, unauthorized leave or unexcused absences may result in disciplinary action including termination of employment.
Specific Responsibilities:
- The overseeing of safe and orderly classrooms.
- Creates a safe and orderly environment that facilitates positive behavior and learning for all students.
- Take appropriate action when students exhibit emotionally/physically distressed behaviors.
- Prepare classroom activities under the supervision of a licensed teacher.
- Works with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher.
- Assist individual children in need with their academic and social emotional needs
- To guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by the teacher.
- Assist teachers with non-instructional classroom duties.
- Assist with reading, storytelling, math, science, and social studies instruction.
- Assist in drill work.
- Supervises students as assigned in in-school suspension.
- Perform clerical duties as needed.
- Supports building discipline plans and consistently enforces school rules.
- Supports the mission of the school and district.
- Follows all district policies, handbooks, and regulations.

Terms of Employment: At will employment. 10-month, hourly classified.
Evaluation: Performance evaluations in accordance with the Board’s policy and the Classified Employee Handbook.
