What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Transmission Line Routing and Siting Specialist position at ATC?

What You’ll Do
You’ll use your bachelor’s degree bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, geography, urban planning, or related field and minimum 3–5 years of experience in transmission routing/siting or linear infrastructure planning in these key areas:
Technical Leadership
- Lead routing and siting studies for transmission lines, rebuilds, and substation expansions.
- Apply thoughtful criteria and cost metrics to evaluate route alternatives and recommend optimal solutions.
- Partner with GIS specialists to create mapping tools that support smart decision-making and regulatory filings.
- Maintain a comprehensive routing and siting decision matrix and ensure accurate recordkeeping for all route options.
Regulatory Support
- Assist in preparing applications and documentation for the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW).
- Support completeness reviews and respond to agency data requests.
- Ensure full compliance with Wisconsin Statute 1.12(6) and other relevant regulations.
Interdisciplinary Coordination
- Collaborate with Environmental, Real Estate, Engineering, and Local Affairs teams to integrate diverse technical inputs.
- Participate in constructability reviews and agency coordination meetings.
- Support the Routing and Siting Program Manager in engaging stakeholders and facilitating public outreach.
- Help Local Relations secure welcoming venues for open houses and community events.
Documentation & Analysis
- Keep detailed records of route evaluations, meeting notes, and decision logs.
- Assist in developing and updating project fact sheets, Q&A documents, and technical summaries.
- Contribute to internal and external project websites and communication platforms.

The targeted base pay for this position is $116,500 to $135,900 annually.* Base pay is one component of our comprehensive total rewards package which includes an annual incentive bonus, employer-sponsored pension plan, 401(k) match, HSA contribution, life & disability insurance, health care benefits, generous time off plans, flexible work arrangements, and much more.
*The pay range is a general guideline. Employment offers are evaluated individually and consider qualifications, experience, academic achievements, internal equity, and business needs. Pay exceeding the posted range is considered for uniquely qualified candidates.
