About the Role:
The Continuous Compression Molding (CCM) Machine Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining CCM used to produce composite laminate. The role involves setup, parameter adjustment, quality control, troubleshooting, and ensuring safe, efficient, and consistent production.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably operating heavy machinery
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to read and interpret technical documents and process instructions.
- Ability to work in shifts and stand for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with computerized control systems and industrial automation.
- Basic troubleshooting and maintenance skills for mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare the CCM machine for operation by loading setup card, heating die, building stackup/loading creels.
- Start, operate, and monitor continuous compression molding machinery.
- Adjust machine temperature, pressure, speed, and alignment based on product specifications.
- Inspect material/laminate for dimensional accuracy, surface finish, thickness, and visual defects throughout entire process of building and running material.
- Monitor HMI settings to ensure consistency and maintain product quality standards.
- Record production measurements and document quality results.
- Identify process issues.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance.
- Clean dies and machine components to prevent contamination or defects.
- Report major mechanical or electrical issues to Management.
- Follow all safety protocols related to heat, pressure, moving equipment, and chemical handling.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Adhere to company, environmental, and specifications.
- Maintain batch records and inspection reports.
- Communicate production status and issues to supervisors and the next shift.
Skills:
- Experience operating machinery.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to interpret work instructions and drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to work in hot, high-pressure environments around heavy machinery.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50lbs (or as required).
- Ability to stand/walk for long periods and work in heated production areas.
- Manual dexterity for die cleaning and adjustments.

This position supports work performed for the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). AFRL requires U.S. Citizenship for all personnel working on this contract.
