Locum Tenens Optometrist
ATC Healthcare Northwest is seeking an Optometrist for a 13-week contract assignment at correctional healthcare facilities in Madras, Wilsonville, Umatilla, Pendleton and Ontario, Oregon.
Earn $160–$170 per hour while providing essential vision care to an underserved patient population. This opportunity offers part-time or full-time scheduling, depending on the facility location.
Previous correctional healthcare experience is welcome but not required.
Optometrist Position Details
- Pay: $160–$170 per hour
- Employment Type: 1099 independent contractor

Optometrist Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations and assess patients’ vision health.
- Identify, diagnose, and manage common eye conditions.
- Prescribe corrective lenses and medications when appropriate and within the scope of licensure.
- Develop treatment plans and recommend appropriate follow-up care.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records.
- Coordinate with other healthcare professionals to support continuity of care.
- Educate patients on eye health, vision correction, and preventive care.
- Follow applicable clinical standards, professional guidelines, and facility protocols.
Optometrist Qualifications
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry program.
- Active Oregon optometry license or ability to obtain the required license before the assignment begins.
- Previous clinical optometry experience.
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently in a structured healthcare environment.
- Correctional healthcare experience is preferred but not required.
