Reports to the franchise owner/manager or designee and to client supervisors and managers.
Education
- Has completed State of Illinois Professional Educator curriculum endorsed for Paraprofessional’s.
- Obtained an associate degree (or higher) at a regionally accredited institution of higher education or equivalent to obtain a license.
Possess a valid State of Illinois Professional Educator License endorsed for Paraprofessional.
Experience
- Mandatory-Must have at least 1 year of recent experience working with children with special needs, students with medical/developmental disabilities as a Paraprofessional Educator. Must also have experience with students that may have very challenging behavior.
- Background screening as required by the client.
- CPR from the American Heart Association or equivalent.
- Hepatitis B Statement or Declination [OSHA 29 CFR, 1910.1030(f)(2)].
- Tuberculosis screening test.
- Physical exam.
- Drug screening as required by the client contract.
- Work sites vary.
- Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious materials.
- The physical demands are representative of those that may be required by an employee to successfully perform the representative duties and responsibilities of the job
- Complies with ATC Healthcare Services policies and procedures.
- Complies with client policies and procedures.
- Provides instructional reinforcement for individual students or small groups of students.
- Assists teacher with classroom management and general supervision of the class.
- Helps with administrative duties such as setting up equipment and preparing materials.
- Supervises students in the cafeteria, schoolyard, specials, hallways, on field trips, and/or during before and after school programs.
- Attends to students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs.
- Supports students with special needs by following provisions specified in their IEPs/504 Plans.
- Communicates in writing or verbally with parents/guardians per school protocols.
- Performs other duties as directed by the classroom teacher and school administration.
