Position Summary
Repairs injection molds and performs mold maintenance for production as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ability to determine necessary mold corrections from reviewing damage on plastic parts.
- Use of hand measurement tools and indicators to measure within .0001”.
- Work independently to program and execute manufacturing of mold components on the below equipment.
- Wire and Sinker EDM
- Rough and Finish Mill
- Surface Grinder
- Laser Welder
- Polishing and fitting of mold components.
- Move molds to and from locations.

Qualifications:Required Competencies, Skills, and Experience
- Mechanical knowledge.
- Ability to generate programs using CNC software.
- Ability run CNC mills, CNC lathes, EDM Wire and Sinker, Surface Grinder.
- Knowledge of shop tools.
- Follow prints to manufacture parts to dimension within .0005.”
- Follow verbal and printed instructions.
- Use of measurement tools (micrometers, calipers etc.).
- Keeps work areas clean, maintained, and practices 5-S mentality.
- Ability to work independently or on a team is required.
- Willingness to teach others on use of equipment.
Preferred Skills
- Working knowledge of injection molds.
- Surface Grinding to within 0.0005”.
- Forklift experience.
Education and Job Experience
- Journeyman’s Card or Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship preferred. High school Diploma required.
- 5 years Machine Shop experience with CNC/EDM equipment.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead and bend to the floor.
- Pushing, pulling, and lifting of approx. 10- 50 lbs. at times.
- Utilize hoists to lift and position large details more than 1000 lbs.
- Prolonged periods of standing.
- Standard workday is 8 hrs. Extended hrs. may be required.
- Moderate continuous lifting, pushing, pulling.
- Reaching overhead.
- Subject to high noise levels from operating machines.
- Physical hazards from moving and handling equipment and machine parts.
- Breathing fumes, dust, and mist.
- Skin exposure to oils, cutting fluid and multiple steel types.
- Superior manual dexterity, muscular control, and delicate touch necessary to complete precision work without damaging valuable molds.
- Visual acuity to read blueprints and perform visual inspections.
