What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Manager position at ATA?
The Business Development Manager will identify, target and close on new business opportunities. Prospect for potential customers using various methods such as direct calling, face to face meetings, and networking across multiple industry functions. ATA offers a competitive base salary with uncapped commission earning potential. A successful candidate will be self-motivated and have a “hunter” personality.
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Establishes relationships with new customers and closing new contracts throughout the year.
- Manages the entire sales cycle from “Initial Opportunity” through “Closed Won”.
- Prospecting potential customers using various direct methods such as cold-calling, face to face meetings and industry networking.
- Provide forecast on best case, and most likely sales volumes over relevant time periods.
- Executes customer presentations, submits opportunities, manages activity reports, and participates in overall company growth strategy.
- Builds and maintains a healthy sales pipeline to meet or exceed sales targets.
- Develop and maintain functional knowledge of the products, services, and company operations.
- Work closely with operations managers to develop collaborative working relationships, and ensure all customer needs are met.
- Enters sales data into CRM system, or other designated sales call software provided by the company.
- Meets or exceeds sales threshold/quota as defined by the company.
- Works cooperatively with other sales and operational staff to support a team-selling environment.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Position level commensurate with experience, will consider candidates with:
- Degree or Military experience with demonstrated aptitude and desire to sell.
- Candidate with strong understanding of Freight Forwarding/Logistics with demonstrated aptitude and desire to sell.
- Candidate with operations or operations management experience interested in outside sales.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including PowerPoint, Word and Excel), internet, web-based and job specific software applications required
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment in order to achieve required results
- Must have strong persuasive and negotiating skills
- Must have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think and respond quickly to sales and service issues.
- Effective planning and organization skills required to schedule appointments appropriately and to meet reporting deadlines.
- Experience with Microsoft products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Valid state issued driver’s license required, acceptable driving record required and proof of automobile insurance required.
Travel: Up to 50% local market/region
