Summary
Operates tow trucks to transport disabled, improperly parked, or impounded vehicles to designated locations safely and efficiently. Provides roadside assistance and represents the company professionally to customers and law enforcement.
Key Responsibilities
Respond to dispatch calls and arrive promptly at scene.
Inspect, prepare, and operate tow truck (flatbed, wheel-lift, boom) and secure vehicles for transport.
Perform vehicle recovery and winching from ditches, steep inclines, or other difficult positions.
Provide basic roadside assistance (jump starts, tire changes, fuel delivery, lockout service).
Complete paperwork: tow reports, authorizations, incident logs, receipts, and customer signatures.
Communicate with dispatch, customers, property owners, and law enforcement as needed.
Maintain truck cleanliness and perform basic maintenance checks (fluid levels, tire pressure, lights).
Load/unload vehicles following safety protocols and local regulations.
Ensure compliance with state and local towing laws, lien procedures, and company policies.
Manage payment transactions and issue invoices when required.
Report mechanical issues, accidents, or customer complaints to supervisor promptly.
Required Qualifications
Valid driver’s license; commercial driver’s license (CDL) if required by vehicle weight or local regulations.
Clean driving record.
Proven experience in towing, roadside assistance, or related mechanical/vehicle-recovery work preferred.
Ability to pass background and drug screening per company policy.
Skills & Abilities
Strong vehicle-handling and mechanical aptitude.
Knowledge of towing equipment (chains, straps, winches, wheel lifts) and safety practices.
Good communication and customer-service skills; able to remain calm under stress.

Comfortable working alone and managing time effectively.
Physical Demands & Work Conditions
Regular lifting, bending, climbing, and working in confined spaces; frequently work outdoors in all weather conditions.
