Mechanic with Class A CDL
American Trailer & Storage, Inc. is looking for a dependable Mechanic with a Class A CDL to join our Davenport, IA team.
This position combines mechanical repairs with local equipment deliveries. You'll perform maintenance and repairs on trailers, containers, and mobile offices while safely delivering equipment to customers throughout the local area. What You'll Do
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on trailers, containers, and mobile office units
- Diagnose and repair brakes, lights, suspension, doors, tires, flooring, and electrical components
- Complete welding and minor fabrication repairs as needed
- Deliver and retrieve trailers, containers, and mobile offices at customer locations
- Operate tractor-trailers, rollback trucks, and flatbed equipment
- Load, unload, position, and secure equipment using chains, straps, and binders
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Complete minor field repairs when necessary
- Maintain equipment records and work orders
- Assist with general yard maintenance and organization
- Provide excellent customer service while representing the company
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safety policies
Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A)
- Minimum of 2 years of Class A driving experience
- Experience repairing trailers, heavy equipment, or commercial vehicles
- Rollback and/or flatbed experience preferred
- Ability to operate a manual transmission
- Welding and fabrication experience preferred
- DOT Medical Certification (or ability to obtain)
- Experience with load securement using chains, straps, and binders
- Basic computer skills
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
