To be considered for this opportunity, all applicants must be certified as a security officer in the state of Virginia and currently hold an active DCJS Guard Card.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular patrols of the premises to monitor for suspicious activity or safety hazards.
• Manage access control by verifying identification and authorizations for employees, visitors, contractors, and vendors.
• Respond promptly to security incidents or emergencies, utilizing conflict management skills to de-escalate situations when necessary.
• Perform detailed inspections of individuals and property to prevent theft, vandalism, or unauthorized entry.
• Maintain accurate logs of daily activities, incident reports, and security checks to ensure thorough documentation.
• Collaborate with local law enforcement or emergency responders during incidents requiring additional support.
• Utilize surveillance equipment such as CCTV cameras to monitor activity and identify potential security threats proactively.
• Support loss prevention initiatives by identifying suspicious behaviors and implementing preventative measures.

Experience

• Prior experience in security, law enforcement, military service, or related fields is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of surveillance techniques and CCTV systems is essential for effective monitoring.
• Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred to handle medical emergencies confidently.
• Strong conflict management skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure are crucial.
• Familiarity with security protocols, loss prevention strategies, and basic law enforcement procedures enhances effectiveness in this role.
• Experience with conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques helps maintain a safe environment for all stakeholders.
