As a DSP, you will play an important role in empowering individuals, promoting independence, and ensuring their safety, dignity, and overall well-being.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct support with daily living activities, personal care, mobility, and companionship
- Encourage independence, social engagement, and community participation
- Implement individualized care plans and Behavioral Support Plans (BSPs)
- Support individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and person-centered environment
- Accompany individuals to medical appointments, therapy sessions, and community activities
- Provide reliable transportation as needed
- Accurately document services, progress notes, and goal tracking
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations and agency policies
- Previous experience working as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) required
- Experience supporting individuals with behavioral needs and implementing BSPs preferred
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Compassionate, dependable, patient, and adaptable
- Ability to assist with mobility and personal care needs
- Knowledge of person-centered care and individual rights
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable personal transportation
- Ability to pass required background checks and screenings
- Ability to work independently and responsibly
