At Home Personal Care is seeking an experienced, professional, dependable, and organized Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to serve as our Weekend Nurse. This position plays a vital role in ensuring continuity of care, regulatory compliance, medication management, and clinical oversight during weekend operations. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, accountable, and committed to providing high-quality care in a structured, home-like assisted living environment.
Position Requirements
- Current Mississippi LPN license in good standing
- Previous assisted living, long-term care, hospice, home health, or supervisory experience preferred
- Excellent attendance and reliability is REQUIRED
- Every other scheduled weekend is mandatory. Consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Requests for scheduled time off must be submitted in advance and approved by management.
- Reliable transportation is REQUIRED
- Reliable childcare/daycare arrangements are REQUIRED
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision
- Strong assessment, documentation, and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in emergency situations
- Positive attitude with the ability to communicate professionally with residents, families, staff, hospice agencies, physicians, pharmacies, and management
- Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and professionalism
- PRN flexibility for occasional additional coverage is preferred
Responsibilities Include
- Administering medications and treatments as ordered by physicians
- Completing medication documentation accurately and timely
- Monitoring residents for changes in condition and reporting concerns appropriately
- Performing resident assessments and nursing evaluations as needed
- Communicating with physicians, nurse practitioners, hospice agencies, pharmacies, laboratories, and family members when appropriate
- Reviewing and following physician orders and treatment plans
- Ensuring medication carts, narcotic counts, and medication records remain accurate and compliant
- Supervising caregivers and direct care staff during weekend shifts
- Providing clinical guidance and support to caregivers
- Responding to resident incidents, falls, emergencies, and changes in condition
- Completing incident reports and nursing documentation as required
- Maintaining organized resident charts, binders, and clinical records
- Assisting with regulatory compliance and survey readiness
- Ensuring facility policies and procedures are followed consistently
- Communicating important resident updates and shift information to management and weekday nursing staff
Attendance & Accountability Expectations
At Home Personal Care provides care to residents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Because this position serves as the primary weekend clinical coverage, attendance is critical to resident care and facility operations.
The Weekend Nurse is expected to:
- Report to work on all scheduled weekends
- Arrive on time and prepared to perform assigned duties
- Provide adequate notice of emergencies that may affect attendance
- Assist with ensuring proper coverage when unforeseen circumstances arise
- Understand that excessive absences, tardiness, or repeated scheduling conflicts may result in corrective action
