About the Position
We are seeking an experienced, compassionate Caregiver Mentor to help new and current caregivers build confidence and provide quality care to clients at home.
This hands-on role focuses on interviews, training, orientation, encouragement, and ongoing support. The ideal candidate enjoys teaching others, leads by example, and helps caregivers feel prepared and supported in their work.
Responsibilities
- Welcome and mentor new caregivers as they transition into their roles.
- Cover open shifts as needed due to caregiver call offs or open shifts requiring a caregiver.
- Provide hands-on guidance during orientation, training, shadowing, and client quality visits.
- Model respectful communication, professional boundaries, and person-centered care.
- Help caregivers understand client routines, care plans, and agency procedures.
- Reinforce safe caregiving practices within agency policies and the caregiver’s authorized duties.
- Check in regularly with caregivers, answer questions, and offer constructive feedback.
- Help caregivers develop skills in organization, documentation, and communication with clients and families.
- Share training needs and caregiver progress with the appropriate office staff.
- Promptly report client concerns, safety issues, or changes in condition to designated agency staff.
- Document mentoring visits and training activities while maintaining confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Previous experience providing home care or personal care assistance.
- A patient, approachable manner and a genuine interest in helping others learn.
- Strong communication, teaching, and problem-solving skills.
- A dependable work history and commitment to compassionate care.
- Ability to work independently and travel throughout the service area.
- Comfort using mobile applications and completing electronic documentation.
- Previous mentoring, preceptor, or caregiver training experience preferred.
- Ability to meet applicable background screening and employment requirements.
- We require 3 to 5 (minimum) years of experience, depends on the person.
