What are the responsibilities and job description for the Communications Technician position at Astrotech Space Operations, LLC?
**Qualifications**
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in the Communications, Networking, or IT field
- Associate's degree in Communications or related technical discipline, completion of a specialized course of study from a related vocational trade school, or industry-specific certification is preferred.
- CompTIA Security Certification preferred, but not required.
- Obtain a TS level security clearance to retain employment.
- Knowledge and concepts of TCP/IP network switching, routing, Voice over IP Telephone Systems, Copper CAT5 Ethernet Cabling/Patching, and multifunction printers and copiers.
- Additional knowledge of Fiber Optic Systems/Patching, IP Camera Systems, Wireless Networking (Wi-Fi), CCTV Video Distribution, GPS Timing Systems, and Radio Frequency Transmission Theory is highly desired, but not required.
- Must be a United States citizen.
- Perform hands-on programming, set-up, maintenance, and upgrade of network and communications systems in support of mission requirements.
- Performs installation, testing, and troubleshooting of mission specific hardware, voice communications, computer systems, telephones, televisions, CCTV cameras, and Access Control Systems, as well as fiber optic maintenance and cabling. Primary focus on switches, routers, firewalls, and other hardware appliances.
