What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Planner position at Astronics?
We are looking for a strategic professional to serve as the Production Planner for Astronics Luminescent Systems, Inc. You will be the pivot point between Customer Service, Sales and the Production Floor, translating customer requirements into actionable, efficient production schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed production plans that balance customer demand with department capacity and EOQs.
- Analyze capabilities and calculate workloads. You’ll ensure we have the right materials, tooling, and people (collaborating with supervisors) before hitting "release."
- Release work orders, including complex rework and RMAs requiring unique BOMs and routers in the ERP system.
- Confer with departments to track status, identify constraints, and expedite orders when deadlines get tight. You will be the one communicating potential delays to the customer service team so we can manage expectations.
- Lead production meetings to address bottlenecks and adjust schedules in real-time.
- Maintain knowledge of AS9102 internal audit controls and related documentation.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- At least 2 years of production planning experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong math and analytical skills.
- Preferred: APICS certification.

Compensation & Benefits:
