What are the responsibilities and job description for the Die Maintenance Technician position at Astro Plastics, Thermoplastic Profile Extrusions?
The Die Maintenance Technician performs routine maintenance and cleaning of extrusion dies and calibrations.
Duties/Responsibilities:· Responsible for following all company safety policies and procedures, maintaining a safe, organized and clean work area. Also responsible for reporting unsafe conditions to the immediate supervisor.
- Perform preventive maintenance work on dies and calibration according to established schedules.
- Cleans and adjusts dies and calibrations returned from extrusion production
- Determines changes in dies and calibrations by inspecting and measuring various instruments.
· Inspects dies and calibrations for abnormalities and report to Engineering Manager.
- Locates sources of problems by observing surfaces of dies and calibrations.
- Dismantles assemblies as required for cleaning and maintenance.
· Responsible for overall organization and operation of die cleaning shop tool crib.
· Responsible for overall organization and inventory management of die assembly components.
· Ensures compliance with health and safety laws, regulations, and guidelines, including EPA and OSHA requirements.
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Assists tool room in correcting minor tooling problems.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Experience in manufacturing field, preferred.
Physical Requirements:· Ability to solely lift and carry 50 pounds.
· Ability to push and pull 1,500 pounds.
· Ability to stand (50%), walk (40%), and sit (10%) of the time.
· Ability to twist, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, and climb ladders.
· Sight and hearing corrected to normal levels.
Die Maintenance Technician Qualifications and Skills
- Ability to operate media-blasting equipment.
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment.
· Ability to operate a digital surface grinder.
· Ability to identify, and repair electrical issues with die heaters.
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulations.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to use small hand tools, power tools and grinders.
