JOB DESCRIPTION
CHEMICALS, INC WAREHOUSE, SHIPPING/RECEIVING
Reports to: Plant/Traffic Manager Department: Warehouse
Classification: Hourly Job Code: WHSE

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Plant/Traffic Manager and/or Operations Manager, oversee and coordinate the daily responsibilities associated with distribution, material handling and storage of chemical and chemical related products.

Essential Functions:
* Conduct and assist in loading and unloading of chemical products from trucks and trailers
* Perform the receiving of chemical products, supplies and hardware; verification of delivery
product receipt against Bill of Lading/Manifest
* Utilize proper storage procedures of chemical products in designated racks, bay and building
utilizing specialized material handling equipment and defined storage methods
* Selection, preparation and staging of customer orders per customer requirements, such as lot
control numbers, additional stenciling or labeling requirements, packing and handling
requirements, sample delivery requirements and QC requirements and/or cleaning of containers
* Assist or assign tasks of unloading of empty returnable containers from Astro trucks and
trailers, sort containers to be reloaded on appropriate trailers for re-use or reconditioning
* Advise management of any questionable container condition and/or applicable information
* Assist or assign tasks of loading of customer pick-ups
* Prepare empty containers for Bulk Plant
* Prepare pallets for storage and/or transportation of product
* Enter any Certificate of Conformance in computer system, ensuring latest information is
updated
* Enter shipments into computer reflecting current inventory levels
* Notify and coordinate with Customer Service any shipment discrepancies
* Coordinate with Quality Control on non-conforming materials
* Coordinate with Quality Control on any new product codes
* Coordinate with Quality Control on any materials deviations, non-conformance issues
* Coordinate with Quality Control on any custom blends formulations
* Identify problems, correct and/or bring to Manager’s attention
* Coordinate outbound, inbound and third party deliveries of freight via common carriers
* Perform loading and unloading of trucks
* Maintain company files such as MSDS, Certificates of Analysis
* Execute daily tasks within the parameters of written work instructions

Minor Functions:
* Assist with year end physical inventory, as required
* Assist with daily facility cleaning (utilize floor sweeper/washer)
* Maintain clean work area; keep free from debris
* Assist with cleaning of product containers per defined instructions
* Convey any pertinent work instructions to on-coming shift personnel
* Identify problem areas and notify Supervisor/Manager
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
* High School Diploma or GED equivalent
* Knowledge of DOT Hazardous Material regulations relating to compatibility of chemicals in
storage and shipping, preferred
* Knowledgeable in OSHA and general Safety regulations/instructions/procedures
* Knowledgeable in Emergency Response Procedures, preferred
* Experience with reading and interpreting Bills of Lading/Manifest, MSDS sheets,
and/or Manufacturers Certification of Analysis, preferred
* Experience in utilizing various material handling equipment
* Familiarity with DOT placard and labeling information, preferred
* Chemical background, preferred
* Experience using Standard Operating Procedures and/or various defined
written procedures with emphasis on ISO and Continuous Process Improvement
* Minimum 2-3 years experience in Warehouse, Distribution or Transportation environment

The employee must regularly lift, move or transport up to 70-100 pounds. Specific vision abilities may require close vision and ability to adjust focus while reading.
