What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Support Technician position at Astrix?
Lab Support Technician
- The role is really supporting the lab, not a lab role – primarily: receiving samples, logging samples in to the system, and sample preparation for the lab
- All tasks are trainable so they are seeking someone who is trainable, wants to learn, is a team player, and is computer savvy (MS Office Suite and can learn a LIMS)
- Ideal for getting some lab-based career experience
- The contract is 6-months and most likely will not be extended, however it could open the door for jobs with the company in the future
- Seeking candidates with an Associate’s Degree in a life sciences related field who would have had lab courses in their program and thus will know lab etiquette (would consider BS grad who just graduated, or High School grads with a couple years of lab support experience)
- The client would take someone who worked in a lab, medical lab or a warehouse environment before
- Onsite 100% of time in Blakely, Georgia
- Assignment will run from December 15th to June 12th
Duties include:
- Sample and supply receipt and login to LIMS system
- Following methodologies to prepare samples for lab experiments
- Communicate with lab staff pertaining to sample receipt, status/progress, results, and projected completion
- Sample inventory and disposition control to maintain efficient workflow, records, information, and storage
- Reagent preparation
- Data entry of results
- Cleaning of lab benches and glassware
- Sample disposal
- Miscellaneous administrative functions including paperwork, scanning
