Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Naval Architect to assist the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division’s Naval Architecture and Engineering Department in achieving new or improved understanding in concepts and technology, fundamental and applied research of the marine environment, engineering and naval architecture, hydromechanics, maneuvering and control, fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, modeling and simulation, test and evaluation, and training.

Successful candidates will demonstrate
Responsibilities include providing naval architect support and analysis in the areas of structural design, cargo handling and lifesaving systems, weight and moment reports and calculations, stability calculations, inclining experiment support and calculations, hydrostatics, intact and damage stability reviews, arrangements, survivability, hydrodynamics (including sea keeping), and dry-docking studies. This work is performed across the entire spectrum of support including:

Required Qualifications / Skills
Successful candidates will demonstrate
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution in one of the following Engineering disciplines: Aerospace, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, Engineering Management, Marine (also known as “Ocean”), or Naval Architecture (also known as “Naval Engineering”). Naval Architecture or Naval Engineering degree preferred.
- Approximately fifteen (15) years of verifiable experience participating in naval architecture.
- Minimum Secret Clearance
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team under project deadlines.
Responsibilities include providing naval architect support and analysis in the areas of structural design, cargo handling and lifesaving systems, weight and moment reports and calculations, stability calculations, inclining experiment support and calculations, hydrostatics, intact and damage stability reviews, arrangements, survivability, hydrodynamics (including sea keeping), and dry-docking studies. This work is performed across the entire spectrum of support including:
