Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Optical Test Engineer to join our team. This role focuses on testing, validation, and verification of optical systems, including terminal optics and line systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with optical test equipment and be comfortable working in a lab-based R&D environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform testing, validation, and verification of terminal optics and line systems
- Work with coherent optical transceivers (pluggable optics) across switch, router, and transport platforms
- Operate and maintain optical test equipment such as BER testers, power meters, light sources, and spectrum analyzers
- Install, test, and validate new and existing hardware and fiber connections
- Capture, document, and maintain accurate test data and results
- Debug basic hardware and test setup issues related to networking platforms
- Support lab operations, including setup and maintenance of lab space, tools, and materials
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate findings effectively
Required Qualifications (Must Have)
- Hands-on experience in testing, validation, and verification of optical systems
- Experience with coherent optical transceivers (pluggable optics)
- Familiarity with switch, router, and transport platforms
- Proficiency in using optical test equipment such as:
- BER Tester (e.g., EXFO)
- Power Meter
- Light Source
- Spectrum Analyzer
- Willingness to work in a lab environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience setting up and maintaining hardware R&D lab environments
- Knowledge of fiber optic installation and testing
- Ability to troubleshoot and debug hardware/test setup issues
- Strong documentation and data tracking skills
- Good communication and collaboration abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) or related field
