Introduction To Role

AstraZeneca is a global, science-led, patient-focused biopharmaceutical company committed to delivering life-changing medicines for some of the world’s most serious diseases. We’re looking for an Employee Relations Partner who combines strong employment-law knowledge with practical, people-centered judgment to help leaders and employees navigate complex workplace situations and sustain a respectful, high-performing culture across our US footprint. If you thrive in a fast-moving environment, value integrity and consistency, and enjoy influencing outcomes through coaching, investigation, and thoughtful partnership, this role offers meaningful impact.

Accountabilities

  • Provide trusted, consistent employee relations guidance to leaders, HRBPs, and employees across AstraZeneca’s US footprint, balancing business needs, employee experience, and legal/compliance risk.
  • Lead and/or partner on employee investigations end-to-end, including intake, fact-finding, documentation, findings, and closure actions.
  • Coach leaders on performance management, corrective action, workplace conduct, and conflict resolution; support sound decision-making through clear recommendations.
  • Strengthen leader and employee capability through proactive education and resources (e.g., policy guidance, training moments, and toolkits) aligned to AstraZeneca values.
  • Monitor employee sentiment and ER trends to identify root causes and recommend sustainable, systemic improvements that support engagement and a respectful workplace.
  • Partner closely with HR, Legal, and other stakeholders to ensure outcomes are fair, timely, well-documented, and consistently applied.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (HR, Business, or related field).
  • 8 years of progressive Employee Relations experience (or other HR experience with significant ER scope) supporting leaders through complex workplace matters.
  • Strong working knowledge of US employment laws and ER best practices; ability to translate requirements into practical, business-ready guidance.
  • Demonstrated skill in consulting, influencing, and de-escalation, with the judgment to navigate sensitive issues with discretion and fairness.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including clear documentation and the ability to explain complex topics to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple cases/projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive, collaborative working style; able to operate independently while partnering effectively across HR, Legal, Compliance, and business leadership.
  • Change agility and resilience—comfortable working through ambiguity, shifting priorities, and organizational change.

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Juris Doctorate Degree strongly preferred
  • Advanced degree in HR or related field
  • Experience using (or strong interest in) AI-enabled tools to improve ER/HR workflows, insights, and employee experience (e.g., case triage, knowledge management, drafting, or trend analysis).
  • HR experience in pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience managing employee relations in a diverse work environment including an exempt and non-exempt employee population
  • Experience in a multi-location company is a plus
