About the Role
As a Survey CAD Technician with Astra Surveying, you will primarily support as-built surveys, though you may work on a variety of heavy civil survey projects including roadway, highway, bridge, and commercial sites. The ideal candidate is able to perform all tasks outlined in the description and is eager to contribute across project types.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D; Trimble Business Center experience is a plus
- Strong understanding of the heavy highway/heavy civil industry
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Accountability and ability to manage assigned tasks and timelines
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Goal-oriented and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Effective communication and professional interpersonal skills
- Motivated self-starter, comfortable working independently
Responsibilities:
- Generate linework and stakeout points for construction project surveying
- Create Horizontal and Vertical Alignments (XML, .RXL files)
- Analyze and compare cross sections against project drawing plans
- Deliver DXF linework, XML, or TTM surfaces
- Perform quantity takeoffs for roadway, highway, bridges, and commercial construction sites.
- Support surveying for a variety of heavy highway and heavy civil projects, with a focus on as built surveys
- Occasional weekend or evening work as required.
- Collaborate primarily via email, initially coordinating through your supervisor.
- As you gain experience, you will communicate more directly with field surveyors and project managers by email, phone, and text messages.
