Responsibilities
The Alcohol and Drug Counselor is responsible for the day-to-day provision of treatment services approving diagnosis, providing individual, group and family counseling to serve the life span. This position works closely with the person served and their identified supports to complete comprehensive assessments, strength-based treatment planning, and discharge planning.
Reporting to the Director of Astra Recovery Services (ARS), this position ensures high-quality, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive service delivery consistent with the mission and standards of Astra Mental Health & Recovery, a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC).
The Alcohol and Drug Counselor possesses strong organizational skills, creative thinking, prompt follow-through skills, flexibility to move between tasks and a strong knowledge of detail-oriented responsibilities, supporting Astra’s commitment to Access, Comprehensive Care, Excellent Outcomes, and Sustainability while maintaining compliance with CCBHC, CARF and state licensing.
Job Requirements
- Licensed Master’s Addiction Counselor (LMAC) license in good standing and,
- Master’s degree and licensing in good standing to work as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) or,
- Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor (LCAC) license in good standing and,
- Master’s degree in addiction or in a related field.
- This position requires a minimum of five years free from abuse of alcohol and other drugs.
- Must successfully pass Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI), Central Registry, and all required background checks.
- Valid Kansas driver’s license, good driving record, current auto insurance, and reliable transportation required.
Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years’ supervised experience in the field of substance use disorders.
Salary Range
LMAC/QMHP – $72,000/year
LCAC – $77,000/year
(will consider experience for higher starting pay)
Hours
Monday – Friday, 1st shift, some flexibility required
