What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver position at ASTRA CARE?
We are seeking compassionate, trustworthy, and reliable self-starters to join our growing transportation team. In this role, you will provide transportation for clients to and from hospitals, nursing and rehabilitation facilities, dialysis centers, medical offices, private residences, airports, outings, and events.
Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all passengers reach their destinations safely and on time. This includes making sure all passengers are properly secured with seatbelts and/or wheelchair restraints for a safe, comfortable ride.Important Notice:
All drivers must maintain a valid and clear driver’s license at all times as a condition of employment. Applications may be subject to dismissal at any time if a license becomes invalid, suspended, or otherwise unclear.
Please note that a license may be affected by having too many traffic violations within the past three (3) years, which can result in disqualification from employment consideration.
Essential Duties:
- Transport clients using company vehicles in a professional and courteous manner.
- Operate the vehicle safely, including parking, loading, and unloading in designated areas.
- Assist clients in boarding and exiting vehicles and ensure safe arrival at their destinations.
- Use mobile technology to communicate with dispatch staff, obtain schedules, report pickup/drop-off times, and note any traffic delays or changes.
- Notify clients of any late arrivals when necessary.
- Report any incidents or accidents promptly to a supervisor.
- Maintain a professional image and positive attitude with clients, visitors, and co-workers.
- Operate wheelchair lifts and properly secure wheelchairs and stretchers.
- Complete daily vehicle pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness.
- Adhere to company policies, safety standards, and standard operating procedures.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED.
- Must be able to operate a hydraulic wheelchair lift safely and efficiently.
- Must possess a valid, non-expired state-issued driver’s license and provide a current DMV printout.
- Must have no more than two (2) moving violations or “at-fault” accidents within the past three (3) years.
- Ability to understand and operate mobile technology, GPS applications, two-way radios, and cell phones.
- Must pass a mandatory pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and criminal background check.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Must be able to step up and down, bend, stoop, and safely secure clients, lift up to 50 lbs, and transport wheelchair clients on various surfaces.
- Must comply with HIPAA regulations and maintain client confidentiality at all times.

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
