Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Meidcal Assistant to join our team. As the MA, you will be responsible for helping to oversee the daily operations of our office, focusing on the development of efficient systems. This is a key role that requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to triage and complete tasks according to their acuity.
Duties:
- Manage and maintain office, including opening, closing, inventory of supplies and vaccines and ordering when appropriate
- Communicate with patients on a variety of topics including: model of care, how insurance works, patient rights/responsibilities, etc
- Accept urgent phone calls and obtain relevant information to pass onto the provider, triage as needed.
- Schedule/reschedule appointments, create and maintain patient charts, understand and explain basic principles of insurance, collect copays and payments
- Submit prior authorizations, orders, referrals, send and receive records
- Handle incoming calls, emails, and faxes, directing them to the appropriate staff members
- Oversee the vaccine program (tracking personnel training, inventory, ordering, and documentation, etc)
- Greet and room patients, taking vitals, deliver vaccines, and obtain/handle/process blood and body fluid specimens
- Maintain a clean and organized office environment
Experience:
- Proven experience in office management or a similar role
- Strong knowledge of medical office workings
- Familiarity with phone systems and other office equipment
- Excellent administrative, organizational, and people skills
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations
- Previous experience working at the front desk is an advantage
