We are seeking a reliable and skilled Float Phlebotomist to support multiple sites within the region. In this role, you will perform high‑quality specimen collection, provide excellent patient care, and support workflow efficiency across various clinical environments. This position also involves troubleshooting, training, and assisting with overall lab operations as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and specimen collections using straight needles and butterfly needles.
- Clearly and courteously explain procedures (venipuncture, urine, fecal collection, etc.) to patients.
- Accurately match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Properly label, centrifuge, split, freeze, and store specimens per test requirements.
- Package and prepare specimens for transport while maintaining temperature and integrity protocols.
- Update patient information and maintain accurate records.
- Follow all OSHA, DEP, and safety regulations.
- Participate in annual department training.
- Answer phone inquiries and communicate laboratory results when appropriate.
- Assist with workflow improvements and support team members as needed.
- Valid CPT (Certified Phlebotomy Technician) certification—CDPH-approved.
- Minimum 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced clinical, lab, or hospital environment.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- BLS certification (AHA) preferred.
