Job Description

The Part Time Accountant is responsible for preparing monthly and quarterly reinsurance journal entries related to underwriting activity for various management programs. This role involves reviewing gross activity, processing gross and ceded loss reserves, preparing reinsurance statements, and reporting. Additionally, the accountant will complete monthly settlement invoices, billing for actual premium and loss activity, perform account reconciliations, conduct quarterly variance analysis, and assist in completing reinsurance schedules within the Annual Statement.

Responsibilities

• Work within the fixed asset module monthly to capitalize and depreciate costs in accordance with company guidelines.
• Transfer fixed asset activity from the Oracle Fixed Asset module using the create accounting feature.
• Reconcile fixed asset reports and review system reports for asset disposal.
• Update the yearly forecast depreciation expense workbook.
• Maintain Trust Preferred securities documentation for required mailings and ensure timely dispatch.
• Reconcile three non-investment accounts from the Clearwater application to the Oracle general ledger.
• Process approximately ten accruals timely each month on accrual day.
• Submit investment invoices for payment to Accounts Payable.
• Submit cash balances using the Generic Download Template to Clearwater.
• Run investment monthly analytics for two investment companies.
• Update quarterly statutory financial statement investment notes, including ten investment notes.
• Update quarterly cash Schedule E for the statutory statement.
• Review and upload Clearwater quarterly Schedule D investment schedules.
  
  

Essential Skills

• 1 years of accounting experience, particularly with journal entry and general ledger.
• Experience with Oracle and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  
  

Work Environment

This is a hybrid position requiring an average of 2 days per week in the office, with a total time commitment of 25 hours per week. The role involves working closely with other team members, with the expectation that the accountant will manage basic accounting tasks, with additional responsibilities added over time. Flexibility is required.

This is a Contract position based out of Oakbrook Terrace, IL.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $33.00/hr.
