Job Description:
Aston Carter is looking to hire a lending manager at a top Credit Union in Reston, Virginia. This position will offer growth opportunities, a competitive salary, great benefits and a hybrid schedule.
Day-to-Day Duties:
• To direct and coordinate all lending activities within the Credit Union, ensuring compliance
with Credit Union lending policy assist in development of lending policy manage lending activity to meet Credit Union goals and objectives. Performs all duties of a Consumer/Mortgage Lender, including underwriting and origination. Responds to questions and/or provides information upon request from members, staff, vendors, or potential members.
• Directs and monitors lending operations for the entire Credit Union to ensure the Credit Union meets established goals and objectives with respect to lending. Monitors product delivery and quality and takes action to resolve problems. Interviews, schedules, trains, assigns work to staff, and monitors performance results. Ensures staff is motivated and adhering to job duties and member service standards. Recommends discipline and/or discharge of subordinates, while maintaining required HR documentation. Coaches and counsels staff as necessary. Serves as a member of the management team, and other teams as required.
• Performs duties of a Consumer/Mortgage Lender. Interviews loan applicants, gathering the required information for a credit application, explain loan options, rates, terms, and collateral requirements. Advises member on the best option and cross-sells services in a professional manner. Inputs loan applications into automated lending system. Investigates loan applications and verifies information. Approves loans within lending authority. Ensures all loan documentation is complete before processing.
• Prepares department scheduling and leave schedules to allow for adequate loan coverage during office hours. Makes loan rate changes and updates and prepares periodic reports for management. Tracks sales and production figures and delivers one on one meetings to all employees monthly. Develops and updates procedures and forms as needed. Ensures loan documentation is up to date.
• Keeps informed of market conditions and competitive rates to recommend appropriate changes or improvements. Maintains current knowledge of consumer products/services as well as loan origination software vendor. Attends training as necessary. Implements strategies for staff to generate more loan applications. Keeps loan policy current and updated and revises as necessary. Ensures member loans are underwritten according to established criteria.
• Ensures the Credit Union is in compliance with all lending regulations develops procedural changes as compliance requires or new programs demand. Ensure all staff obtains compliance training annually, as well as other training per the Training and Development plans. Responds to auditor requests and participates in all lending-related audits and exams.
• Reviews staff loan applications. Arranges for loan applications to go to the management review committee. Provides an overview and recommendations for the committee. Ensures that counteroffers are made prior to loan denial if possible.
Core Experience Necessary
• 3-5 Years' Related Experience
• Bachelor's Degree or Formal Certifications or 5-7 years' experience
• Proficient with Meridian Link and Symitar
