The Import/Export Compliance Specialist ensures compliance with U.S. customs, import/export, and international trade regulations. The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $52.88/hr.

Job Summary
The Import/Export Compliance Specialist ensures compliance with U.S. customs, import/export, and international trade regulations. This role supports tariff classification, customs compliance, trade programs, export controls, duty management, and continuous improvement of internal compliance processes within a global manufacturing environment serving the automotive and electronics industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Classify products, components, and materials under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and maintain supporting documentation.
- Review and validate HTS classifications, country-of-origin determinations, customs entries, valuations, and import/export documentation.
- Partner with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and internal teams to support compliant and efficient international trade operations.
- Research and resolve classification issues, customs inquiries, and CBP-related matters.
- Monitor changes in tariffs, trade regulations, and customs requirements; identify duty savings and tariff mitigation opportunities.
- Support export compliance activities, including export documentation reviews and licensing requirements.
- Manage and maintain compliance records, master data, and audit documentation.
- Support USMCA and other free trade/preferential trade programs.
- Evaluate duty drawback, duty reduction, and other trade cost-saving initiatives.
- Develop and maintain trade compliance procedures, internal controls, and training programs.
- Conduct periodic compliance reviews and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risk.
- Partner with Logistics, Finance, Purchasing, Sales, and Customer Service on trade compliance matters and their business impact.
- 3 years of experience in U.S. customs, import/export, or international trade compliance.
- Strong HTS classification experience and knowledge of customs regulations, valuation, country-of-origin rules, and entry documentation.
- Working knowledge of U.S. export controls and licensing requirements.
- Experience working with customs brokers and freight forwarders.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience in automotive, electronics, or manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of duty drawback, tariff mitigation, and duty reduction strategies.
- Experience with USMCA and other free trade programs.
- Familiarity with ACE, customs broker systems, and trade management tools.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
- Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or similar certification.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, International Business, Logistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- On-site, first-shift position (Monday-Friday) within a manufacturing environment.
