A global, manufacturing-driven organization is seeking a Senior Cost Analyst to support cost accounting, inventory, and operational finance activities at a large production location. This role partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure accurate costing, inventory controls, and actionable financial insights that support business performance. The Senior Cost Analyst will play a key role in standard costing, gross margin analysis, budgeting and forecasting, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position is well-suited for a manufacturing cost accounting professional who enjoys working cross-functionally and providing decision-support to operations and Senior leadership.
Responsibilities

The Senior Cost Analyst will play a key role in standard costing, gross margin analysis, budgeting and forecasting, and continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close processes by preparing and analyzing accurate cost-related data.
- Coordinate with Operations on inventory cycle counts and physical inventories, including audits and root cause analysis.
- Administer the annual standard cost update process, including cost build-ups and product cost allocations.
- Perform part cost analysis and provide costing data to Engineering for Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Collaborate with Operations to maintain and refine cost drivers and costing assumptions.
- Oversee standard cost structures and analyze gross margin performance.
- Serve as a trusted advisor on managerial accounting topics, including cost comparisons and operational efficiency initiatives.
- Partner with manufacturing teams to support purchasing, inventory management, and materials control.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Procurement to analyze material, labor, overhead, vendor, and raw material cost trends.
- Monitor key cost drivers and identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
- Present findings and recommendations to Senior leadership through clear, actionable reports or presentations.
- Support job costing accuracy, including annual and ad-hoc cost roll exercises.
- Respond to ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests from production and operations teams.
- 3–5 years of progressive cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of financial and managerial accounting principles.
- Proven ability to analyze complex cost data and communicate insights to non-financial stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience partnering cross-functionally with Operations and Finance teams.
- ERP experience preferred (Epicor a plus); exposure to Hyperion or Sage is beneficial.
- Experience with cost accounting, cost analysis, month-end, WIP, and year-end processes.
- Proficiency in Excel, Epicor, forecasting, general ledger, reporting, inventory, financial analysis, and budgeting.
