The company currently generates around $70M in revenue and plans to scale to roughly $150M in the coming years.
This role is ideal for a player‑coach who can manage a small accounting team today and help build out the function as the company expands. The Controller will have a strong hand in improving processes, strengthening financial reporting, and partnering with leadership on strategic initiatives.
Candidates must have prior Controller‑level experience and construction accounting expertise (WIP, % of completion, job costing). A Bachelor’s in Accounting is required; CPA and/or public accounting experience is preferred.
Compensation includes a $120K–$140K base salary, bonus potential around 50%, 75% employer‑paid health insurance, a 3% 401(k) match, and an additional 3% bonus opportunity, all within a results‑focused, non‑clock‑watching environment.

Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting operations, financial policies, internal controls, and reporting systems.
- Guide financial decision‑making by monitoring and enforcing accounting standards and procedures.
- Safeguard company assets through proper controls, audits, and risk‑management processes.
- Lead budgeting and forecasting, including data collection, variance analysis, and recommendations.
- Provide timely and accurate financial reporting, special analyses, and trend insights for leadership.
- Ensure compliance with applicable financial, tax, and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise accounting staff, including hiring, training, performance management, and workload oversight.
- Manage external audit processes, tax preparation coordination, and support for third‑party reviews.
- Oversee account reconciliations, payables review, cash management, and general ledger accuracy.
- Monitor project/job costing, review cost performance, and support operational leaders with financial data.
- Review operating expenses, quarterly financials, and periodic P&L reporting.
- Maintain and update accounting policies, procedures, and financial documentation.
- Support insurance renewals, business licensing requirements, and financial documentation for external partners.
- Oversee payroll processes, compensation updates, commission calculations, and benefits‑related updates.
- Review and update employee‑related records including job descriptions, handbook updates, and annual compensation reviews.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information and ensure reliable financial operations.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- Experience in accounting/finance, most recently at Controller level
- Proficiency in accounting, general ledger, reconciliation, month-end, financial reporting, and reporting
- Experience in the construction industry is highly preferred
- Experience in small to mid-size companies
- Power BI experience is a huge plus
