Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Accountant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing vendor payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies and procedures. You will also create monthly allocation tables and act as a backup for other accounting roles. This position requires strong attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively with various teams.
Responsibilities
- Review vendor payments processed daily for accuracy, appropriateness, and compliance with policies and procedures.
- Ensure a 3-way match has occurred and that payments are not duplicate.
- Create monthly allocation tables for accounting, preparing payments for rent and utilities by performing queries in the Access database.
- Inform accounting staff when allocation tables are completed and ready for updating.
- Act as a backup to the Accounting Cycle Coordinator, monitoring email inbox, processing accounting change orders, and managing transactions.
- Prepare monthly invoices, update contract and grant information, and prepare Federal Financial Reports for submittal to EPA.
- Proficiency in GASB 87, 96, and capital assets.
- Understanding of US GAAP.
- Advanced skills in MS Excel.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent with 32 credit hours in accounting courses.
- Initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Personable and professional customer service demeanor.
- High level of attention to detail and great communication skills.
- Experience with Power BI, R*STARTS or DOS accounting system, and MS Access.
- Understanding of government accounting.
