What are the responsibilities and job description for the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position at Asthma and Allergy Center?
Our clinic has an immediate opening for a full-time LPN. We specialize in the treatment of asthma and allergic disease.
The practice is located in Bellevue, Nebraska, 10 minutes from downtown Omaha. Our medical team includes two allergists, Dr. Linda B. Ford and Dr. G. Daniel Brooks, and four allied health professionals. In addition to our clinic staff, we have a research department which concentrates on pharmaceutical protocols. We have a staff of approximately 18.
This is a full-time opening, 40 hour week with daytime hours no evenings or weekends.
We are a non-smoking facility.
Education and Experience:
- High School graduate
- BS in Nursing or completion of an accredited Allied Health Program
- Current and valid Nebraska LPN license required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Responsibilities:
- Administer to all aspects of the patient’s care; i.e. taking vitals, discussing symptoms, confirming medications, treatment and education
- Schedule diagnostic tests and procedures with the patient/family, other physicians/hospitals and insurance providers as determined by the needs of the patient
- Verify medical summary during patient check in to include medication allergies current medications, social and family history
- Perform allergy related testing including skin testing, challenges, and desensitization procedures at the clinician’s direction
- Give injections, subcutaneous and IV
- Perform blood draws
- Perform pulmonary function test
- Complete all required patient care documentation in an accurate and timely manner within the electronic medical record
- Educate the patient on allergy and asthma treatments and controls
- Document all vitals, relevant information, and procedures
- Work closely and perform procedures with physician, physician assistants and clinic staff and respond accordingly
- Order medical supplies
- Keep up-to-date on allergy procedures and treatments
- Perform other tasks as requested by the clinic supervisor and administrator
- Respond appropriately in crisis situations or life threatening emergencies
Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
Excellent communication skills, friendly and engaging personality, Excellent clinical skills, detail oriented.
- Computer skills with the ability to navigate an electronic system
- Able to adapt to changes in workflows as they occur.
- Minimum Requirements: Must be a nurse, License Practical Nurse (LPN-C) or Registered Nurse (RN), currently licensed in the State of Nebraska. Experience with IV is preferred.
- Basic Life Support(BLS) certified
- Medical practice experience preferred
- Background and credit check will be required
