What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN Triage - Emergency Department position at Astera Health?
This position is scheduled for 56 hours per bi-weekly pay period, working 8:30am -8:00pm Monday-Thursday and 8:30am - 5:00pm every other Friday. Responsibilities required, but not limited to:
- Provide Triage nurse assessment services for patient telephone calls and patients presenting to ReadyCare and Emergency Departments.
- Document each patient interaction timely and accurately.
- Notify physician/provider on patients’ condition as appropriate.
- Provide education to patients on self-injections, medications, diagnosis etc.
- Educate and advise patients per triage assessment, utilizing approved triage materials.
- Provide patients with information as requested for clinic physicians and advanced practice providers.
- Use of IV therapy skills.
- Lead and provide direction in emergent situations.
- Use of effective communication skills to obtain pertinent patient information to identify the appropriate patient protocol, need for consultation, or other action.
- RN will be available to Emergency Department/ReadyCare during business hours to provide assessment of walk-in injuries, illness, and emergencies.
- Demonstrates customer service skill to positively impact the experience of care for our patients, external customer, and internal service partners.
Education and experience required:
- Graduate from a Registered Nursing education program.
- Active Nursing License.
- Maintain active BLS Certification.
- Maintain active ACLS Certification.
- Maintain active TNCC Certification.
- Maintain active ENPC Certification.
- Maintain active STABLE Certification.
- Previous Emergency Department, Nurse Triage, and cardiac monitoring experience; Or relevant education and experience to perform the essential duties of this position.
