Part-Time Cook Needed Mornings only- No Nights or Weekends (2 Mesa locations)

Aster Aging is seeking a dedicated Cook to prepare and cook high-quality menu items for our senior nutrition programs. Under the Kitchen Manager's supervision, you will help produce Center-Based Congregate Meals, Meals on Wheels, and contracted catered meals. If you are passionate about serving older adults and maintaining top-tier kitchen standards, we want you on our team!

Job Details

• Status: Part-Time
• Schedule: Regular weekday hours Monday - Friday must have availability between 6am -12noon schedule varies from location
• Reports To: Kitchen Manager

Key Responsibilities

• Food Preparation: Prepare, cook, and assemble ingredients for multiple daily services using production sheets and recipes. Ensure timely output and minimize waste.
• Portion & Temperature Control: Follow guidelines for daily portion control and safe food handling. Verify correct temperatures before meals are served or transported.
• Safety & Sanitation: Maintain strict "clean as you go" practices. Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas according to the maintenance schedule.
• Inventory & Operations: Assist with receiving, verifying, and organizing food and supply deliveries. Help break down the line and wash dishes at the end of service.
• Team Collaboration: Foster a positive environment for staff and volunteers. Assist coworkers to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
• Experience: Minimum of six (6) months of related food service experience.
• Technical Skills: Ability to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment.
• Soft Skills: Strong organization, time management, and interpersonal skills. Must demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of older adults and diverse community members.

Physical & Regulatory Requirements

• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30 pounds unassisted.
• Ability to tolerate kitchen temperature changes (ovens, walk-in coolers, steam tables).
• Valid AZ driver’s license with reliable transportation and a safe driving record.
• Ability to obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card and pass a background check.
• Current Food Handler’s Card (or ability to obtain one).
