Purpose and Scope:
Leads Astellas’ U.S. market access strategy across payer, policy, patient access, contracting, and established brands to optimize access, profitability, and long-term portfolio value. This role shapes enterprise strategy in response to evolving business priorities and external healthcare dynamics, serving as a catalyst for organizational change and shareholder value creation.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Leads strategy and execution across core U.S. Commercial market access functions, including payer accounts, GPO and private equity, strategic accounts, channel and trade, patient access and affordability, contracts and pricing, government affairs and policy, established brands, and brand-aligned market access strategy.
- Responsible for a team of over 120 associates across the market access, government affairs, policy and established brand franchise.
- Develops sustainable contracting strategies across the value chain that balance business performance with fiscal discipline and gross-to-net optimization.
- Sets strategic direction on key healthcare policy issues and external developments that may affect the U.S. business.
- Ensures compliant reimbursement strategies and tactical execution to support appropriate patient access to Astellas products.
- Delivers integrated market access strategies tailored to the needs of priority Astellas brands and portfolio objectives.
- Leads the commercial strategy and execution for the established brands portfolio, maximizing profitability to support broader portfolio growth while maintaining patient value.
- Manages and responsible for a $1B P&L for all Astellas established US brands.
- Drives financial stewardship through gross-to-net forecast accuracy, contract performance, government price reporting, P&L oversight, and resource management.
- Serves on the U.S. Value Delivery Leadership Team, representing the market access perspective across commercial, medical, and enterprise decision-making.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required with 15 years of progressive leadership experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Demonstrated success leading cross-portfolio U.S. teams and partnering effectively with Global stakeholders in a dynamic and evolving market environment.
- Proven ability to recruit, develop, inspire, and lead high-performing teams while fostering a diverse and inclusive culture focused on patient impact.
