The Technician II is expected to have a solid technical foundation and may assist in training, as needed.
Compensation & Schedule
- Pay: DOE hour based on experience, with overtime opportunities. Higher-level roles are available for more experienced candidates at increased pay.
- Schedule: 2nd shift Monday through Thursday, 6pm to 4am (4x10) with paid lunch and breaks.
- Flexibility: Night and weekend shifts with increased pay are also available depending on experience and team needs.
- Perform environmental testing including thermal vacuum, vibration, shock, acoustic, and related tests
- Set up and operate test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems
- Follow established procedures, test plans, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Assist in planning and preparing test configurations, fixturing, and instrumentation setups
- Monitor tests and record data accurately; identify and report anomalies or deviations
- Troubleshoot basic to moderately complex test issues and support root cause investigations
- Document test results, non-conformances, and observations in accordance with quality standards
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality requirements
- Support maintenance and calibration of test equipment as needed
- Assist in training and mentoring Technician I personnel
- Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to support test objectives
- Provide hands-on support to ensure successful and timely test execution
- 2 years of relevant experience with an associate/trade school degree, or
- 3–5 years of relevant hands-on experience in lieu of formal education
- Experience supporting environmental testing or similar technical operations preferred
- Experience with environmental test methods (thermal vacuum, vibration, shock, acoustic)
- Familiarity with test instrumentation, sensors, and data acquisition systems
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and test documentation
- Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Effective time management and task prioritization
- Willingness to learn and take initiative
- Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) or similar tools
- Familiarity with test data systems and documentation tools preferred
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to use hands and fingers to perform repetitive and precision tasks.
- Ability to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach as required to perform job duties.
- Ability to communicate effectively, including talking and hearing.
- Ability to work in, on, around, and in proximity to large structures, equipment, and tooling.
- Ability to lift, push, and/or carry items up to 35 pounds as required.
- Ability to work near moving mechanical parts and equipment.
- Ability to work in and around tight or confined spaces.
