ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
55% Responsible for filing with state insurance departments all new and revised product, form and rate filings, annual state filings, and data calls including:
- Serving as subject matter expert (SME) related to policy forms compliance in assigned states;
- Drafting and reviewing policies, riders, applications, and other forms for conformity with state regulations and revising as necessary;
- Compiling and submitting new and revised policy forms, riders, rates, and applications with state insurance departments through SERFF or other industry portals;
- Preparing support materials for the filing of forms such as explanatory memoranda, state required checklists, certifications and Flesch readability scores;
- Completing annual required filings and data calls by the prescribed deadlines;
- Developing and maintaining positive relationships with state reviewers;
- Communicating with state insurance departments, including responding to objections and researching applicable statutes and regulations;
- Communicating internally with Product Actuaries and other departments to ensure forms changes are accurate and acceptable and to ensure that revisions align with product pricing, administration and claims adjudication; and
- Maintenance of all filed and non-filed forms and rates, including the policy filing database or other tracking systems, product specifications, state variations and filing dispositions, etc.
40% Ensures compliance with state insurance statues and regulations pertaining to insurance forms and rates, including:
- Keeping current on regulatory changes relating to Assurity's product lines and, form and rate filings in assigned states;
- Reviewing and applying state insurance codes forms and rates filings;
- Completing CODE tasks as assigned to fulfill state regulatory changes by the prescribed effective date of change, including any required filings;
- Assisting with research regarding compliances issues; and
- Staying informed on industry-related developments and activities.
5% Performs other functions, including:
- Maintaining and organizing SharePoint libraries and files;
- Collaborating with other departments on the development and filing of ancillary forms;
- Implementing new processes and procedures as needed; and
- Assisting with and participating in team functions and events for the product management department; and
- Assisting with special projects and other related duties as requested.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Four plus years of experience in business or related field required.
- Insurance industry experience helpful.
- Self-starter with high level of personal initiative and accountability required.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills required.
- Professional oral and written communication skills required.
- Decision-making ability required.
- Knowledge of Assurity products helpful.
- Ability to review and understand insurance contract language required.
- Ability to analyze and interpret state insurance rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of administrative practices relating to company procedures and digital systems beneficial.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat document editing software required.
- Familiarity with SERFF and IIPRC filing standards helpful.
- Consistent and reliable attendance Is an essential function of this position.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
- Equivalent work experience (4 years) in the insurance industry may be considered in lieu of education.
- LOMA designations helpful (ALMI required within 18 months of hire). Other industry certifications strongly encouraged.

- Ability to focus and perform work on a computer for extended periods of time required.
