ORGANIZATIONAL REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Works closely with and reports to the SVP, Finance.
JOB DESCRIPTION: This role is responsible for the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting function. This position also works closely with internal team members, as well as external partners, on the aggregation and consolidation of our financial and productivity results to create financial and operational reporting. As Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial activities and compiling and reporting monthly, quarterly, year-end financials along with providing information for completion of company audits.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains and records business transactions, including (but not limited to) Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing, Payroll, Journal Entries, Bank Account and Carrier Reconciliation, revenue and expenses ledgers. This duty is performed daily, about 40% of the time.
- Balances ledgers, reconcile accounts, perform monthly closing activities, prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports. This duty is performed monthly, about 5% of the time.
- Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, statement of cash flow, and other financial and production reports. This duty is performed monthly, about 5% of the time.
- Responsibilities also include analyzing trends and variances in costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.
- Works closely with senior leadership to build an annual budget.
- Reports organization's financial and productivity performance along with analysis of variances and trending to management based on budget, and offers suggestions about resource utilization, expense strategies, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts. This duty is performed monthly, about 10% of the time.
- Recommends, designs, develops and implements process efficiencies with respect to data integration, aggregation and reporting. This duty is performed monthly, about 10% of the time.
- Identify and report operational metrics, including key financial ratios for decision making. This duty is performed monthly, about 10% of the time.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of five years’ experience working in the finance or accounting environment. Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and a willingness to become proficient in other supporting technologies. Experience in Insurance or the insurance agency space preferred along and with knowledge of HubSpot, and AMS360.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
