Subject Matter Expert (HPCB)

Assured Information Security (AIS) has an opening for a Subject Matter Expert (HPCB). This role provides technical and programmatic thought leadership and specialized expertise to support the exploration, prototyping, demonstration, and transition of critical computing and communications capabilities for DoD and IC customers.

What You'll Do

• Capture and interpret customer and user requirements related to data filtering, data visualization, alerting capabilities, and data enrichment needs.
• Lead the evaluation and engineering of exploitation tools by assessing current capabilities and comparing them against customer and user requirements.
• Direct toolset testing activities and present findings, including recommendations for enhancements and new features.
• Identify and define modern collection system data sets, collaborating with engineering teams to design and develop new software features and improvements.
• Develop and deliver training that strengthen analytical skills through effective use of delivered tools and technologies.
• Serve as a recognized authority in their domain, providing expert guidance and insight to teams and stakeholders.
• May act as a team leader, offering direction, mentorship, and technical oversight as needed.
  
  

Education/Experience/Skillset Required

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline and 15 years of experience in a technical, analytical, or engineering-focused role OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven experience working directly with customers or end users to gather requirements and translate them into actionable technical specifications.
• Established relationships with key stakeholders across AFRL, specifically those working in the high performance systems branch and/or the computing and communications division.
• Familiarity with programs such as JADC2 and Future Flag.
• Experienced working with capabilities that facilitate multi-domain planning, survivable networking, modeling and simulation, and beyond line of sight (BLOS) operations.
• Familiarity with FPGA and SoC technologies.
• Demonstrated history of leading tool evaluations, testing, or engineering efforts.
• Recognized expertise in a specialized technical area, evidenced by certifications, publications, or prior SME roles.
• Strong ability to elicit, document, and interpret customer/user requirements.
• Ability to assess tool capabilities, identify gaps, and recommend engineering enhancements.
• Solid understanding of software development processes and the ability to collaborate with engineering teams.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to present findings and technical concepts clearly to both technical and non technical audiences.
• High level of initiative, adaptability, and professional judgement.

US Salary Range: $124,255 - $185,000

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on several factors including location, skills, and experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package which includes employer paid health insurance and a 7% contribution to your 401k, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation.
