Purchaser Job Description

Position Role: The Purchaser is responsible for managing the procurement process for raw materials, specialized adhesives, hardware, and subcontracted fabricationinstallation required for ASST projects. This role collaborates with Business Development, Planning, Project Management, and the Production team to ensure timely material approvals, budget alignment, and procurement execution. The ideal candidate brings industry knowledge, strong communication skills, and attention to detail to ensure materials are delivered on time and meet job specifications.

DutiesResponsibilities

• Attend project turnover meetings with Business DevelopmentOperations team.
• Review job specifications and ensure accuracy within buyout packages
• Build and distribute drawing packages to qualified vendors for quoting.
• Prequalify vendors and subcontractors.
• Evaluate and select vendors based on product suitability, lead times, and job requirements.
• Track submittal approvals, and material lead times.
• Negotiate volume pricing and delivery terms to maximize company profit margins.
• Monitor stock levels of raw materials and hardware.
• Forecast upcoming project needs to prevent shortages or overstocking.
• Create, track, and manage Purchase Orders (POs) using ERP software.
• Monitor fabrication lead times and coordinate release dates with vendors and production teams.
• Track material costs and compare against project budgets; communicate discrepancies or savings opportunities.
• Monitor and update company ERP to reflect procurement status and all changes.
• Collaborate with Planning to review fabrication means and methods and identify potential value engineering (VE) options.
• Inspect delivered materials for defects, proper color matching, and damage.
• Handle returns, replacements, and billing disputes with vendors, coordinating with Accounting as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.
