PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Support the Community Relations Department by assisting with member communications, publications, website updates, social media, advertising, photography, and administrative functions. This position helps ensure timely, accurate, and engaging communications while providing excellent customer service to members, advertisers, departments, clubs, and local businesses.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
· Assist with the preparation of The Hideabout newspaper, Hideabout Extra, weekly emails, flyers, and other community communications.
· Assist with gathering and organizing information from departments, committees, clubs, and outside organizations for publication.
· Proof The Hideabout newspaper and other communications for accuracy.
· Assist with updating website content, announcements, calendars, and event information.
· Assist with posting approved content to The Hideout's official social media platforms.
· Take photographs at community events and maintain photo files.
· Assist with creating flyers, advertisements, and promotional materials.
· Maintain relationships with existing advertisers and assist in obtaining new advertising opportunities.
· Work with advertisers to coordinate advertisements and revisions.
· Prepare monthly advertiser invoices using QuickBooks and maintain advertising records.
· Maintain organized communication and advertising files.
· Provide courteous customer service to members, advertisers, and departments.
· Assist with after-hours community communications, when needed.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Community Relations Manager.
SPECIFIC SKILLS:
· Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
· Familiarity with social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.
· Ability to create or assist with basic social media and communication content.
· Ability to learn new software and office systems.
· Experience with Adobe InDesign, Canva, or other design software is helpful but not required.
· QuickBooks experience is a plus.
· Basic photography skills are helpful.
· Ability to work well with coworkers, members, advertisers, and the public.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

EXPERIENCE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or related work experience is a plus.
- Previous experience in customer service, administrative support, communications, social media, or a related field is preferred.
- Willingness to learn new software, procedures, and communication tools.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred for occasional local business visits and community events.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Occasional overtime may be required to meet publication deadlines or support community events.
- Must be motivated, organized, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Position requires extended periods working at a computer.
- Evening or weekend attendance at community events may be required.
- Availability to assist with emergency or weather-related communications outside normal business hours when necessary.
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Work is performed primarily in an office environment with occasional work at community facilities and events.
HAZARDS OF THE JOB:
Minimal hazards. General office working conditions with occasional outdoor work during community events.
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
