About The Role

This individual is a recognized expert in governance, strategic planning, board and leadership development, and membership engagement strategies.
Responsibilities:
Client Services & Delivery
- Serve as the primary point of contact for client engagements, managing relationships from initiation to project close.
- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with executives and board leaders.
- Deliver tailored recommendations, presentations, and work products that reflect deep understanding of client needs.
- Present confidently to boards and leadership teams, including on complex or sensitive topics such as governance and DEI.
- Manage both qualitative and quantitative research to inform client strategy.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.
- Continuously assess and improve consulting methodologies, tools, and deliverables.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and thought leader within the association and nonprofit sectors.
- Represent AMC at industry conferences and events as a speaker, facilitator, or panelist.
- Create and contribute to thought leadership content, including white papers, blogs, and case studies.
- Monitor industry trends and provide relevant insights to clients and internal teams.
- Manage a portfolio of clients, driving retention, satisfaction, and growth.
- Identify and pursue new consulting opportunities through networking, referrals, and market awareness.
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to support lead generation, proposal development, and brand visibility.
- Develop and present customized service proposals to existing and prospective clients.
- Lead internal project teams (approximately 55-65% of projects), providing guidance, mentorship, and actionable feedback.
- Collaborate across departments (e.g., Marketing, Sales, Account Management) to align services with market needs.
- Contribute to the growth and strategic direction of the Consulting division.
- Support the development of junior consultants and colleagues through mentorship and knowledge sharing.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 7 years minimum of senior-level experience in association management, nonprofit consulting, or equivalent, including at least five years of success in project leadership, marketing or association governance.
- Proven success leading strategic projects, facilitating executive-level conversations, and managing client relationships.
- Ability to manage and deliver on advanced projects in a fast-paced environment often with tight deadlines.
- Advanced critical thinking and analytical skills; proficiency in Excel and research tools.
- Strong facilitation skills, with experience leading both in-person and virtual engagements.
- Excellent writing and editing abilities, including experience with client-facing deliverables.
- Skilled in research design, data interpretation, and synthesizing findings into actionable insights.
- Knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint; experience with survey tools, and databases.
- Comfortable handling sensitive information and navigating complex client dynamics.
- Ability to travel 10-15 days per month during peak project periods, by all modes of transportation including car, plane and train.
- Physical: This role requires extended computer use. Work involves sitting, talking, hearing, and typing, with visual acuity required for keyboard usage, data analysis, and computer terminal operation. Occasional light lifting may be necessary. This role also requires travel which may include walking through airports, lifting luggage and standing for extended periods during client engagements and presentations. - $130K-$165K annually. Within this range, individual pay is determined by relevant factors, including job-related skills, experience, market data, work location, and education or training.
- This is a hybrid role in Schaumburg, IL. Employees who reside within 50 miles of the office are expected to work onsite one day per month. At times, there may be circumstances that require additional visits to the office.
- Candidates who live more than 50 miles from the office, including in and out of IL, may be considered for a remote opportunity. Out of state applicants may be eligible for hire, depending on the state in which they reside.
