I. JOB DESCRIPTION
A. TITLE: Team Lead
B. REPORTS TO: Production Manager
C. FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
II. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The Team Lead’s primary responsibility is to assist the Production Manager with the coordination of workflow, production, and the training and guidance of employees within the Business Division.
III. RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WORK OF OTHERS
The Team Lead works side-by-side with manufacturing employees, frequently performing the same tasks and job functions. He/she is responsible for providing direction to employees relative to daily/weekly production goals and daily work assignments.
IV. BUSINESS COMMUNICATION
A. Communication with the Production Manager is frequent and ongoing.
B. Communication with the Director of Manufacturing is ongoing.
C. Participation/contribution to production meetings is regular.
D. Communication with the CEO and COO is regular via weekly production meetings.
V. SUPERVISION REQUIRED
The position requires the ability to work independently, but in close coordination with the Production Manager.
VI. EDUCATION
The position requires a high school diploma. College credits are desirable but not required.
VII. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
A. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
B. Must be able to sit or stand for 4 hours per day.
VIII. TRAINING AND SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
A. Supervisory skills are required. Experience working closely with people with vision and other disabilities is desired. Experience in training techniques, machine operation, and production processes desired.
B. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, in particular Word and Excel.
IX. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
This position requires a minimum of three years related experience in a manufacturing setting or related field.
X. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Work with the Production Manager in the distribution/coordination of daily work assignments to efficiently fulfill production goals.
B. Oversee employee assignments.
C. Coordinate with the Inventory/Purchasing Specialist and Production Manager to manage inventory.
D. Assist in training/cross-training.
E. Assist with workflow. Work production line as needed.
F. Support and monitor quality control.
G. Clean and organize production and inventory areas.
H. Support and ensure safety compliance.
I. Identify production inefficiencies/waste reduction opportunities.
J. Machine operation, as appropriate.
K. Develop/modify production procedures.
L. Track daily production data and note problems/adjustments as appropriate. Participate in production meetings as required.
