Role Description The Paramedic Instructor role is a part-time, on-site position based in Hampton, VA. The instructor is responsible for planning and delivering engaging didactic and skills-based paramedic coursework aligned with state and national EMS curriculum standards. Day-to-day activities include teaching classroom and lab sessions, demonstrating and supervising psychomotor skills, and providing constructive feedback to learners. The role also involves evaluating student performance through exams and skill assessments, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting learners’ test preparation for certification. The Paramedic Instructor collaborates with other faculty and program leadership to ensure course content remains current, clinically accurate, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted Paramedic certification/licensure (state and/or National Registry).
- Demonstrated teaching, training, or precepting experience, preferably in EMS, allied health, or related adult education settings.
- Thorough knowledge of paramedic scope of practice, current clinical guidelines, and EMS protocols, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, practical instruction.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with diverse learners and colleagues in a team-based environment.
- Solid organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prepare materials, manage classroom activities, and maintain accurate records.
- Proficiency with basic educational technology, presentation tools, and learning management systems or willingness to learn.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in EMS, healthcare, education, or a related field is preferred.
